Marsala is named after red wine

I don’t know about you, but for me, 2015’s Pantone Color of the year is really, really sexy.

Marsala, also known as Pantone 18-1438, is a sensual hue with red-brown roots. It is named after a wine from Sicily, Marsala is a reddish brown color mixed with notes of caramel. It gives an over-all sophisticated aura, elegant yet with natural warmth. It is definitely a stylish tone that is appealing and can be easily applied to fashion, beauty, design, home, etc.

I fell in love with this color the moment I saw it. That is why I didn’t think twice writing an entry about it. If you will observe in my past entries, I was never really a fan of
earthy colors, I have always been fond of bright, light, and lovely colors such as pink, and any pastel shades. But the pantone color of the year makes me appreciate more mature colors. And I cannot wait to try it out.

 The Versatility of Marsala

  • Equally appealing to men and women, Marsala is a stirring and flavorful shade for apparel and accessories, one that encourages color creativity and experimentation
  • Flattering against many skin tones, sultry and subtle Marsala is a great go-to color for beauty, providing enormous highlight for the cheek, and a captivating pop of color for nails, shadows lips and hair.
  • Dramatic and at the same time grounding, the rich and full-bodied red-brown Marsala brings color warmth into home interiors
  • An earthy shade with a bit of sophistication, texture is the story in print and packaging. A matte finish highlights Marsala’s organic nature while adding a sheen conveys a completely different message of glamour and luxury.

Aloe Vera

Since it’s summer and you ought to stay under the sun most of the time,  chances are good you’ll get sunburned. Sunburn is a very painful problem that needs immediate treatment. But then again, prevention is better than cure so please, don’t forget your sunscreen!

Anyhoo, you only need one natural ingredient to soothe that pain: Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera  has a powerful healing and antibacterial properties. It is because of the aloectin B which stimulates the immune system and makes them act fast on the affected parts of your body. If you don’t have an aloe vera plant at home (but I strongly suggest that you plant one now)  aloe vera gel can also be found in health food stores. These gels are also widely used by hospitals for burn victims.

1. Snip off one of the leaves pf aloe vera plant

2. Refrigerate for 30 mins.

3. Squeeze off the gel from the leaf and apply on your sunburnt skin

4. Don’t forget to moisturize your damaged skin all throughout the day

Oatmeal Paste for Oily Skin

Posted by on Mar 2, 2012 in Beauty Au Naturel | 5 comments

Oily Skin

Having an oily face and oily skin in general is a common problem for many people especially now that the summer season had just started. The culprit behind this problem is the sebaceous glands which produce sebum, a complex blend of varied lipids and fats. Under normal circumstances, these glands should play a normal role in lubricating the skin and hair to protect them from dehydration. However, there are cases when sebaceous glands are working overtime, hence the cause of excessively oily skin.

There are many products in the market that guarantee shine-free skin. However, more often than not, these products  tend to overdo it and vanish almost all the oil and in turn, make the skin look dry and unhealthy.

Here’s a face paste that is easy to make and 100% effective in reducing excessive oil but guarantees, healthy and hydrated skin.

You only need:

1 egg white

3 tsp oatmeal

egg white, egg, oily skinoatmeal, skin, oily skin, natural remedy

2. Add the oatmeal

3. Apply the paste to skin

4. Leave for 15 minutes

5. Rinse with cold water.

Enjoy your shine-free healthy skin..:)

Homemade Facial Toner

Posted by on Feb 21, 2012 in Beauty Au Naturel | 9 comments

The original purpose of toner was to tighten the skin through the application of alcohols. However, we all know that too much alcohol can dry up your skin. As skin care has evolved, more toners were formulated for different skin needs, thus more ingredients were added. Other manufacturers tried to stay away from alcohols to be able to provide better reputation to facial toners, but most of the toners nowadays still have it.

Worry no more about harsh ingredients! You can have an all-natural toner which is 100% safe and at the same time, very easy to make.

You only need these two ingredients:

1 tbsp honey

1 peeled and cored apple

honey, honey syrup

1. Use a blender to puree the honey and apple

2. Smooth over face

3. Leave for 15 minutes

4. Rinse with cool water

There, enjoy your homemade facial toner! :)

Homemade Moisturizer Mask

Posted by on Feb 5, 2012 in Beauty Au Naturel | 2 comments

The top layer of the epidermis helps contain moisture within the skin, and is normally made up of about 15% water. When the moisture content drops, the skin starts to look dry and flaky until it eventually starts cracking so we need to moisturize it regularly.

Good thing is, you don’t need to buy costly moisturizers to maintain healthy, moisturized skin.

Here’s an effective moisturizer mask you can prepare at your home:

You need:

2 tbsps honey

2 tsps milk

honey, what is honey

1. Mix 2 tablespoons honey with 2 teaspoons milk.

2. Smooth over face and throat.

3. Leave on 10 minutes.

4. Rinse off with warm water.
